Gonggi Squid Game 2

Gonggi Squid Game 2

One of the games in the second season of Squid Game is Gonggi, a traditional South Korean game. But how do you play Gonggi? As seen in Squid Game 2, the game involves five small stones and is played over five rounds, with the player sitting down. Each round begins with the player throwing five stones on the ground, then picking up one to throw into the air throughout the round. In the first round, the player picks up a stone and throws it into the air. While it's in the air, they pick up one from the ground and then catch the thrown stone before it hits the ground. The game continues one stone at a time until the player has all five stones in their hand, always throwing one into the air and keeping the ones they've collected so far in their hand. In the second round, the player must pick up two stones at a time while throwing one into the air. So, starting with one stone in their hand, the player throws it into the air, picks up two of the four stones on the ground, and catches the thrown stone in the air. Now with three stones in hand, the player throws one into the air, keeping the other two in their hands. While the stone is still in the air, they pick up the last two stones from the ground, then catch the thrown stone. In the third round, the stones are collected in groups of three. This means that while the stone is in the air, the player picks up three from the ground. Then, with four stones in hand, they throw one and pick up the last remaining stone from the ground. The fourth round is more complicated, as it begins with five stones in hand. The player throws one into the air, sets down the other four, then catches the thrown stone, throws it again, picks up the other four stones, and holds them in their hand while catching the stone in mid-air. The fifth round is the decisive one for scoring. In this round, all five stones are held in the palm of one hand and thrown: the player turns their hand with the aim of landing them on the back of their fingers. From this position, the player then throws the five stones again, aiming to catch them in their palm. If even just one stone falls during this last operation, they score no points and pass the stones to the next player. However, if one or more stones fall during the first throw of the fifth round (from palm to fingers), they can still attempt the next throw to score points: if successful, they score one point for each stone they end the fifth round with. At any point during each round, if a player fails to catch the stones or performs the operations incorrectly, they lose their turn, which passes to the next player.
